Legacy Lifestyle Cannabis

Our Story:

Legacy Lifestyle

Legacy Lifestyle Cannabis was built for the people who were never supposed to benefit from legalization.

Our founders, Shanduke McPhatter and Sylvester Emanus, know this community because they have lived it.

They came to cannabis from different paths, but with the same purpose: to build something that lasts and to make sure the industry replacing prohibition actually serves the people prohibition harmed.

When New York opened the door to legal cannabis, both founders seized the opportunity to open a space for everyone.

Legacy Lifestyle is what happens when two people who understand the cost of prohibition, and the discipline it takes to build something real, decide to do something about it.

Every product on our shelves is tested and trusted. Every person on our team is here to help, not to sell. And every dollar you spend here stays connected to a mission that goes far beyond cannabis.

We believe the people most impacted by the war on drugs deserve to lead the industry that replaced it. That is not a talking point. That is the foundation this business was built on.

When you walk through our doors, you are not just a customer. You are part of something that has been a long time coming.

From Our Founders

Shanduke McPhatter is the founder of Legacy Lifestyle Cannabis and a nationally recognized anti-violence advocate whose path into cannabis has been anything but conventional.

For decades, Shanduke has worked on the front lines of Brooklyn as an advocate, organizer, and community leader. His work began after his own release from incarceration and has been guided by the values he still leads with today: accountability, transformation, discipline, and the responsibility that comes with knowing better. He has spent years working to keep the next generation from becoming another statistic, and that work continues to shape everything he builds.

Along the way, Shanduke authored Two Way Mirror, a book that tells his story from the inside out, and created G-M.A.C.C., a board game designed to help young people learn how to think several steps ahead. Both projects grew out of the same belief that drives him now: the people who have lived a story have the clearest view of how to rewrite it. Legacy Lifestyle Cannabis rests on that same conviction. When New York opened the door to legal cannabis, Shanduke stepped through it alongside his partner, Sylvester Emanus, because the industry replacing prohibition should be led by the people it was built on the backs of.

The road has not been easy. Launching a legal cannabis business in New York has required navigating years of regulation, delay, and uncertainty. But Shanduke has spent his adult life doing work people said could not be done, and he knows the foundation poured in the hardest seasons is the one that carries the most weight.Today, Legacy Lifestyle Cannabis represents more than a storefront. It is proof that the people most affected by prohibition can lead the industry that came after it, a promise to the community that raised him, and a chapter he has been writing his entire life.

My name is Sylvester Emanus, co-founder of Legacy Lifestyle Cannabis.

My journey to cannabis has been anything but ordinary. Before entering this industry, I spent years as a union ironworker/welder, helping build some of New York City’s most iconic structures like the World Trade Center, The Edge, and Hudson yards. That career taught me the values that still guide me today: hard work, resilience, accountability, and pride in building something that lasts.

Entrepreneurship has always been part of who I am. When the opportunity came to help shape New York’s legal cannabis industry, I saw more than a business–I saw a chance to create a lasting legacy. Alongside my partner, Shanduke McPhatter, I helped bring Legacy Lifestyle Cannabis to life with a vision of creating a welcoming space that combines culture, community, education, and premium cannabis experiences.

The road hasn’t been easy. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve faced setbacks, obstacles, and moments that tested my determination. But every challenge has reinforced my belief that success is built the same way a skyscraper is built: one strong foundation, one hard day of work, and one commitment at a time.

Today, Legacy Lifestyle Cannabis represents more than a dispensary to me. It’s a reflection of my journey–a place built on trust, perseverance, and the belief that our greatest achievements come from having the courage to start over and build something meaningful.

Welcome to Legacy Lifestyle Cannabis. We’re glad you’re here.

ABOUT LEGACY LIFESTYLE

Legacy Lifestyle Cannabis is a Brooklyn-based, licensed adult-use dispensary built to bring high-quality cannabis and a trusted neighborhood experience to the community. We are independently owned, community-rooted, and committed to making cannabis retail feel professional, welcoming, and unmistakably Brooklyn.

Legacy Lifestyle was founded by Shanduke McPhatter, a Brooklyn entrepreneur, author, and nationally recognized anti-violence advocate. After transitioning from incarceration to community leadership, Shanduke built Legacy Lifestyle to create economic opportunity for the people most impacted by prohibition and to set a new standard for what a neighborhood dispensary should feel like.

We sit at the intersection of culture, community, and quality. You will find lab-tested products, knowledgeable staff who actually take the time to talk you through your options, and a retail space designed to feel elevated without losing its neighborhood character. Every purchase supports a business that is locally owned and mission-driven.

Yes. Legacy Lifestyle Cannabis is fully licensed by the New York State Office of Cannabis Management to sell adult-use cannabis. Every product we carry comes from licensed New York cultivators, processors, and brands.

Community is built into who we are. The work goes far beyond what happens at the register.

Yes. Every product on our shelves is tested by an independent, state-approved laboratory for potency, pesticides, heavy metals, microbial content, and other contaminants. If a product is in our case, it has cleared compliance testing.

Yes. We carry a range of low-THC and CBD-forward options for customers who want the benefits of cannabis without a strong psychoactive effect. Ask our team and we will walk you through what is in stock.

Indica strains are traditionally associated with relaxing, body-focused effects. Sativa strains are more often linked to uplifting, energizing experiences. Hybrids blend characteristics of both. These categories are a useful starting point, but the full experience depends on cannabinoid content, terpene profile, and your own body chemistry.

Terpenes are the natural compounds that give cannabis its aroma and flavor. They also shape how a strain feels. For example, limonene is bright and citrusy, myrcene is earthy and calming, and pinene is sharp and clear-headed. Reading terpene profiles is one of the most accurate ways to predict how a product will feel.

Start low and go slow. Tell our team how you want to feel, your experience level, and any concerns, and we will recommend a product and dose that fits. For beginners, we typically suggest a low-THC edible, a small pre-roll, or a single-puff vape so you can ease into your experience.

Store cannabis in an airtight container, in a cool and dark place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep all products in their original child-resistant packaging and out of reach of children, pets, and anyone under 21.

Yes. Supporting New York operators is a core part of who we are. You will see local cultivators and small craft brands featured throughout our menu, and our team is happy to point them out when you visit.
